The power of the free-trade zone: Dubai Media City and the secret of outdoor advertising

“No ad, you´re dead!” that is what a German proverb claims, popular amongst advertisers. This piece of wisdom seems to have conquered Dubai as there is hardly any street corner without a BIG ad. Huge outdoor advertisements either for new restaurants, bars, taverns or events are sticking all over the city.

One of the main attractions for foreign companies to invest in the Gulf emirate are the free-trade zones of the city state. Beginning with Jebel Ali the country has gradually built a technologie and media park. And it seems to pay off as the “Big Ones” of international entertainment have settled down there.
