Riga ist the capital of Letvia and belongs to the Baltic States. The city centre of the Letvian metropolis is a walk-in open-air museum. Hardly any other European city owns so many well preserved Art Nouveau buildings, sacral buildings and modern architecture like the former Hanseatic city does. Popular places of interest are the old city with its famous Art Nouveau fronts like the “Schwarzhäupterhaus” and the “Petrikirche”.

The city is locatd at the daugava water mouth into the Baltic Sea. Riga is known as a cultural centre with many museums and concert halls. The old part of the town can only be reached by foot – cars are forbidden. But that is no problem as all the places of interest are not far away from each other. The busy Livu square is also located in the city centre and offers a range of bars and night clubs.
