If you are looking for an alternative to glamorous but overpriced Paris, France’s “Gate to the South” can be it! Lyon convinces by its magnificent old city, France’s biggest coherent Renaissance quarter that shines in decent pink and ocher colours. The old city’s landmark are next to the “Basilika de Fourvière”, the “Traboules”, the passage that lead through the houses. Fourvière itself is UNESCO world heritage.

Moreover the numerous “Bouchons” (bars) are recommended. These are mostly rustic to outmoded arranged taverns whose kitchen serves recipes from the 19th century. Last but not least the “Fresque des Lyonnais”, impressive Trompe l’Oeil on selected house walls which depict famous citizens of Lyon are a real eye-candy. Enough reasons thus to pay one or even more visits to Lyon.
