Wernigerode is a town in the Harz mountains within Central Germany. The old part of the town is known for its timbered-houses, among others the medieval town hall and the “Schiefe Haus” (crooked house). Castle Wernigerode, which is located at the suburbs, has a museum and offers a nice view over the city.

The railroad network of the narrow-gauge railway, which is one of the emblems of that area, connects Wernigerode to the station of “Drei Annen Hohne” (starting point for hiking-tours), where you can also catch the steam-engine conducted train to the “Brocken”, the highest mountain of the Harz.
