Ameland is one of the five inhabited westfrisian Islands in the North Sea. The island belongs to the Netherlands. Ameland is a popular resort island, especially for families with kids or as a holiday camp. Cyclists dominate the island and enjoy right of way all over the island. Die island is about 27 km long and 5 km wide. Therefore driving techniques are not a challenge on the island but the partly very strong head winds that are constantly blowing. That means a distance of 10 km can feel like 50 km. Goede reis!
