Duell at the Gulf

Touché! Until now Dubai has beaten the pants off its brother Abu Dhabi. This time, however, Abu Dhabi won the race. The Formular One gives a guest performance this Sunday over there. With a “White spaceship in the desert the oilrich great land owner made its debut! Even if that race was irrelevant for this year’s Formular One and Abu Dhabi is only the second Gulf State that offers an arena for the daring sport (Bahrain got into the act in 2004), it is for the first time that Abu Dhabi advertises itself like Dubai did it before.
A saying claims that people celebrate in Tel Aviv and pray in Jerusalem. Whereas Dubai is the city for superlatives, Abu Dhabi rather praises understatement. With the luxury hotel “Emirates Palace”, build in 2005, Abu Dhabi made a name for itself for the first time. Unlike its little brother Abu Dhabi likes undertones and puts on culture.

An the future? The road ahead is environmental friendly. Building “Masdar City” the eco-friendly in the desert will be the headquarter of the international agency for renewable energie (IRENA). Primary, it was supposed to locate in Bonn!
