[:de]Da die letzten Wanderungen, auch aufgrund des schwülwarmen Wetters recht anstregenden waren, wollen wir es heute mal etwas ruhiger angehen lassen. Ziel sind heute die Kragenalm und die Kundler Klamm. Aber, wie das in den Bergen so ist, kann es auch eine vermeindlich kurze Strecke in sich haben.
Komatös auf dem Besinnungsweg
Wir starten unsere Tour auf dem Parkplatz unterhalb der Kundler Klamm. Über ein Holzbrücke kommen wir zum Ausgangspunkt. Rechter Hand geht es zum Eingang der Klamm, linker Hand beginnt unser Wanderweg zur Kragenalm. Über den sogenannten Besinnungsweg soll es hinauf gehen. Am „Schießstand“ biegt der Weg ab. Aber Halt, was ist das? In der Ferne sehe ich zwei Türme. Das schaut aus, wie eine Burgruine. Hat Kundl eine Burgruine? Das müssen wir uns später näher ansehen. Zunächst aber kürzen wir unseren Aufstieg ein wenig ab, vorbei am Eiskeller der Brauerei Kundl. Dieser scheint sehr beliebt zu sein, denn die Stahltür weißt einige Dellen auf, die aussehen, als wenn jemand darauf geschossen hätte. Wir kraxeln also über einen wirklich steilen und sehr schmalen Stieg hoch zum Besinnungsweg. Der Schweiß läuft in Strömen, die Steigung geht in die Beine. Jetzt ist uns auch klar, warum am Wegesrand überall die Bilder von Jesus‘ Leidensweg stehen. Schließlich erreichen wir eine wunderschöne Wiese, die zu einem Haus führt. Die Krux ist nur, waren wir bislang im Kundler Wald, sind wir jetzt komplett in der Sonne. Allerdings der Blick von oben entschädigt für alles. Ich bin mal wieder überwältigt. Weiter geht es, jetzt auf einem moderaten Weg, zur Kragenalm.
Ansitz Achenfeld
Und hier wird heute Sauerkraut selber hergestellt. Aber leider wird erst ab 17 Uhr serviert. So viel Zeit haben wir leider nicht. Wir haben aber genügend Zeit für eine ausgiebige Trinkpause. Der Rückweg führt uns zunächst an den Kälbchen der Alm. Dann sehen wir das Schild „Gefährlicher Stieg“. Oha, damit hatten wir gar nicht gerechnet. Hier geht es richtig steil bergab. Zum Glück sind wir schon ein wenig geübt und es ist nicht rutschig. Trotzdem sind wir froh, als wir den Forstweg erreichen, der sich in vielen Kehren runter nach Kundl erstreckt. Unterwegs könnten wir nochmals abkürzen. Da dieser Stieg aber ebenfalls sehr steil aussieht, entscheiden wir uns dagegen. Ganz zum Schluss wandern wir auf der Rodelbahn von Kundl.
Wie es der Zufall will, kommen wir in Kundl direkt oberhalb des „Schlosses“ an. Je näher wir dem Anwesen kommen, umso entsetzter sind wir. Nein, mit einer historischen Burgruine hat das überhaupt nichts zu tun. Im Gegenteil, der Bau wirkt wir original aus dem Disneyland entwendet. Jetzt kennen wir die Hintergründe der ganzen Sache natürlich nicht, aber auf uns wirkt die Domaine schon schräg. Aber wie heißt es so schön: „Jedem Tierchen sein Pläsierchen“. Für uns geht es am Waldrand zurück zum Ausgangspunkt und dann geradeaus weiter zur Kundler Klamm.
Eine Band, die keiner kennt
Gleich am Gasthaus Kundler Klamm hat sich der Betreiber oder die Gemeinde oder wer auch immer einen Scherz erlaubt. Aufgestellt ist eine Bubenband aus Plastik, die gegen einen Münzeinwurf aufspielt. Die Band an sich ist jedoch gar nicht der Clou, nein das ist die Dekoration. Mir gefällt am besten diesr Spruch: „Nüchtern betrachtet war es besoffen besser“. Wir lassen das Wirtshaus links liegen und begeben uns in die Klamm. Ich muss sagen, im Vergleich zur Kaiserklamm finden wir diese Schlucht recht langweilig. Zwar steigen hier die massiven Felswänden auch recht steil hoch, aber irgendwie fehlt der Abenteuercharakter, den die Kaiserklamm ausstrahlt.
Aus diesem Grund durchlaufen wir auch nicht die komplette Schlucht, sondern kehren um, als der Teil mit den Felswänden an einer Brücke endet. Auch war es gut, so stellen wir fest, dass wir Nachmittags hierher gekommen sind. Einerseits ist es nicht mehr ganz so heiß, andererseits auch nicht mehr so voll. Ich glaube, die Klamm ist bei Familien sehr beliebt. Auch, weil sie leicht zu begehen ist. Zum Schluss holen wir uns noch einen Wanderstempel am Parkplatz. Weil uns das Gasthaus in der Klamm zu voll war, lassen wir diesen Wandertag auf der Terrasse des Wirtshauses Kaisermann in Kundl ausklingen.
Comatose on the Reflection Trail
We start our tour at the parking lot below the Kundler Klamm. Crossing a wooden bridge, we reach the starting point. To the right is the entrance to the gorge, and to the left, our hiking trail to the Kragenalm begins. We will ascend via the so-called Reflection Trail. The path turns off at the „shooting range.“ But wait, what is that? In the distance, I see two towers. It looks like a castle ruin. Does Kundl have a castle ruin? We’ll have to take a closer look later. For now, we shorten our ascent a little, passing by the ice cellar of the Kundl Brewery. It seems to be very popular, as the steel door has several dents, as if someone had shot at it. We scramble up a very steep and narrow path to reach the Reflection Trail. Sweat is pouring down, and the steep incline is taking its toll on our legs. Now we understand why there are pictures of Jesus‘ Passion along the way. Eventually, we reach a beautiful meadow leading to a house. The only problem is that while we were in the Kundl Forest until now, we are now completely exposed to the sun. However, the view from up here makes up for everything. Once again, I am overwhelmed. The path continues, now on a moderate trail, towards the Kragenalm.
Achenfeld Lodge
And today, sauerkraut is being made here from scratch. But unfortunately, it won’t be served until 5 p.m. Sadly, we don’t have that much time. However, we do have enough time for a long drink break. The way back initially leads us past the calves of the alpine pasture. Then we see a sign that says „Dangerous Path.“ Uh-oh, we weren’t expecting that. It gets really steep downhill here. Luckily, we’re a bit experienced by now, and it’s not slippery. Still, we are relieved when we reach the forest road that winds down to Kundl in many switchbacks. Along the way, we could take another shortcut. But since this path also looks very steep, we decide against it. Finally, we walk down the toboggan run from Kundl.
By chance, we arrive in Kundl just above the „castle.“ The closer we get to the property, the more horrified we become. No, it has absolutely nothing to do with a historic castle ruin. On the contrary, the building looks like it was originally taken from Disneyland. Now, of course, we don’t know the background of the whole thing, but to us, the estate looks really odd. But as the saying goes, „To each their own.“ For us, the route continues along the edge of the forest back to the starting point, and then straight on to the Kundler Klamm.
A Band No One Knows
Right next to the Gasthaus Kundler Klamm, the owner or the community, or whoever, seems to have played a joke. A plastic boy band has been set up, which plays when you insert a coin. However, the band itself is not the main attraction; it’s the decoration. My favorite quote is: „Soberly considered, it was better when drunk.“ We leave the inn on our left and enter the gorge. I have to say, compared to the Kaiserklamm, we find this gorge quite boring. Although the massive rock walls also rise steeply here, it somehow lacks the adventurous character that the Kaiserklamm exudes.
For this reason, we do not pass through the entire gorge and turn back when the section with the rock walls ends at a bridge. In hindsight, we realize it was a good decision to come here in the afternoon. On the one hand, it’s no longer so hot, and on the other hand, it’s not as crowded. I think the gorge is very popular with families, partly because it is easy to walk through. At the end, we get a hiking stamp at the parking lot. Since the inn in the gorge was too crowded, we end this hiking day on the terrace of the Kaisermann inn in Kundl.
