With a certain level of expectation, we enter the exhibition space on the first floor. We had imagined that someone would guide us through the exhibition or at least be available for questions. But we are alone. A bit disillusioned, we walk through the rooms and look at the industry’s proposals for how meat could be produced without animals dying. Left alone with the images and explanatory panels, the exhibition does not convince us. In the end, I am only impressed by the ceiling light made from empty beer bottles – which probably doesn’t even belong to the exhibition!

At the Steinberg Tower
We treat ourselves to a coffee at the Galeria. Here, we can definitely do some great people-watching. Afterward, we want to stretch our legs a bit, but we don’t want to bother with the car. Fortunately, that’s not a problem in Goslar. Directly from the train station, we head up to the Steinberg. The ascent is quite steep. Although it is rather cool at 4 degrees Celsius that day, we quickly warm up. Once we reach the top, we take the circular path that leads us to the Steinberg Tower. It’s strange; I have been to Steinberg so many times, but I can’t remember the tower. In the meantime, there is a stamp station here. I don’t think that existed on my collecting tour. And the best part: we can climb the tower! Great, that’s exactly my thing.

Since not much light falls into the stairwell, you have to watch your step a bit. The tower, located southwest of Goslar, was built in 1888 as the Kaiser Tower under the direction of the Harz Club branch association in Goslar. It was only later that it received the name Steinberg Tower, named after the mountain on which it was built. Once at the top, we enjoy a beautiful panoramic view, for example, towards Rammelsberg or the abandoned mountain (which I didn’t even know about). Unfortunately, the sun hasn’t managed to break through the clouds yet. That would have definitely helped with the visibility.

Breathtaking views on the Lower Cliff Path
From the Steinberg Tower, we head towards Granestausee. We consider how we want to proceed. We don’t want to go down to Granestausee. So, we initially stay on the level of the parking lot “Unter den Eichen” and walk along the Taubenstieg towards the Kneipp facility, which I wasn’t familiar with until now. Upon arriving at the facility, we ponder the way back. We veer slightly left and take a U-turn onto the Upper Cliff Path after about 1 km. A very good choice, as it quickly turns out. In the meantime, the sun has fought its way through the clouds. Above us stretches a blue sky, which reflects in the Granestausee, showcasing the water in a splendor I had not known before. We are absolutely fascinated, even though we have to climb over fallen trees several times. But we don’t mind; the view is simply fantastic! Completely without expectations, we have enjoyed a beautiful hike!

Manoushti, the Lebanese in Goslar
Full of enthusiasm, we slowly make our way back to Goslar. The sun is setting, and it quickly gets very cool. My train doesn’t leave for another three-quarters of an hour, and we consider how best to pass the time. Following a sudden inspiration, we end up at Manoushti, a Lebanese restaurant. Since I love Lebanese cuisine, I spontaneously decide to take a later train and enjoy dinner here. And yes, it will be a wonderful conclusion to a very successful day in the city of Frederick Barbarossa!

(function() {
 this['GmediaGallery_2384_1'] = {
 'settings':{"collectionThumbRecomendedWidth":"260","collectionPreloaderColor":"333333","linkTargetWindow":"_blank","thumbSpacing":"10","tagsFilter":"1","tagCloudAll":"All","tagCloudTextColor":"rgba(0, 0, 0, 1)","tagCloudTextColorOver":"rgba(255,255, 255, 1)","tagCloudBgColor":"rgba(211, 211, 211, 1)","tagCloudBgColorOver":"rgba(11, 11, 11, 1)","collectionThumbHoverColor":"rgba(0, 0, 0, .7)","collectionThumbContentBGColor":"rgba(245,245,245,1)","collectionThumbTitleShow":"1","collectionThumbTitleColor":"rgba(0,0,0,1)","collectionThumbFontSize":"18","collectionThumbDescriptionShow":"1","collectionThumbDescriptionColor":"rgba(0,0,0,1)","collectionThumbDescriptionFontSize":"15","collectionReadMoreButtonLabel":"Read More","collectionReadMoreButtonLabelColor":"rgba(255, 255, 255, 1)","collectionReadMoreButtonBGColor":"rgba(0, 0, 0, 1)","collectionReadMoreButtonLabelColorHover":"rgba(0, 0, 0, 1)","collectionReadMoreButtonBGColorHover":"rgba(235,235,235,1)","modaBgColor":"rgba(0,0,0,0.9)","modalInfoBoxBgColor":"rgba(255,255,255,1)","modalInfoBoxTitleTextColor":"000000","modalInfoBoxTextColor":"333333","infoBarCountersEnable":"1","infoBarDateInfoEnable":"1","lightBoxEnable":"1","sliderPreloaderColor":"ffffff","sliderBgColor":"rgba(0,0,0,0.8)","sliderHeaderFooterBgColor":"000000","sliderNavigationColor":"rgba(0,0,0,1)","sliderNavigationIconColor":"rgba(255,255,255,1)","sliderNavigationColorOver":"rgba(255,255,255,1)","sliderNavigationIconColorOver":"rgba(0,0,0,1)","sliderItemTitleFontSize":"24","sliderItemTitleTextColor":"ffffff","sliderThumbBarEnable":"0","sliderThumbBarHoverColor":"ffffff","sliderThumbSubMenuBackgroundColor":"rgba(0,0,0,1)","sliderThumbSubMenuBackgroundColorOver":"rgba(255,255,255,1)","sliderThumbSubMenuIconColor":"rgba(255,255,255,1)","sliderThumbSubMenuIconHoverColor":"rgba(0,0,0,1)","sliderInfoEnable":"1","sliderItemDownload":"1","sliderItemDiscuss":"1","sliderSocialShareEnabled":"1","sliderLikesEnabled":"1","customCSS":"","module_url":"https://www.christinaschlegl.de/wp-content/plugins/grand-media/module/amron","license":"","post_url":"https://www.christinaschlegl.de/en/wp-json/wp/v2/posts/36328"},
 'appQuery':{"orderby":"custom","order":"ASC","album__in":"2384","status":["publish"],"limit":100},
 'appApi':"https://www.christinaschlegl.de/en/?gmedia-app=1&gmappversion=4&gmmodule=1",
 'appInfo':{"name":"Goslar - Steinberg","description":"Wanderung mit Susanne rund um den Steinberg inkl.
