Two things relate to each other like twins: Lisbon und Fado. Upon my first visit to the Portuguese capital in 2005 I witnessed an amateur Fado concert in a traditional pub and was instantly spellbound by the soulful and partly melancholic melodys. Since then I try to attend a Fado concert at least once a year. One time it was Telmo Pires, who provoke the unique Fado-sentiment with his songs; some other time it was the \u201cTrio Fado\u201d accomplished by a cellist who fit very well into the ensemble as far as I am concerned. <\/p>\n
The Fado\u2019s spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n Last night, I have to admit that the voice of Ant\u00f3nio de Brito pleased me most. To my mind, gestures and facial expression of Ant\u00f3nio let the Fado\u2019s spirit come alive \u2013 impressively authentic and vividly. Even though I can hardly understand some Portuguese phrases I still got the feeling that I could understand what the individual song was about. A really nice and relaxed evening \u2013 thanks to the trio respectively quartet.<\/p>\n By the way: According to the program the evening was supposed to start at 6 p.m. with Portuguese food, drinks and the opening of the box office, well, according to German time and German \u201cP\u00fcnktlichkeit\u201d.
