(Deutsch) Golden autumn at the Südsee and at the Westpark
The proverbial “Golden Autumn” this year keeps luring me outside. I no longer leave the house without my phone. There are too many beautiful motifs in the finest autumn colors, illustrated by a warm and low-hanging autumn sun, playing before my eyes. It is fascinating how the colorful leaves still hanging on the trees change the cityscape, the parks, and even the ring road. The various shades of red, yellow, orange, and pink make the trees shine once more before they shed their leaves for winter. Autumn has always had a very special aura for me. It is milder than summer, quieter, because the days are shorter and the sun takes longer in the morning to warm the air. And yes, while the leaves on the trees are simply green in summer, autumn presents a color palette that some fashion designers cannot offer.
At the South Sea
At the South Sea, this popular body of water in Braunschweig, especially busy on Sundays. If the Café & Bistro Relax is open, the place with the fantastic view of the lake, then there’s no stopping me. You immediately warm to the operators of the establishment, and the atmosphere there is wonderful. Sometimes it’s difficult to find a spot on the terrace. But even waiting in line is worth it. The sailing club and the boats gliding over the water on many days create a special flair that makes this meeting point so popular. One immediately thinks of the sweet and slightly melancholic song by Rod Stewart: “Sailing.”
In the West Park
Another place of tranquility and beautiful sunsets is the West Park and its surroundings. Although I think I know every stone and every tree here, I am always surprised during my walks. The shades of red generated at sunset on the lake and in front of the trees are magical. It is worth soaking up the romantic atmosphere deeply, because the next autumn storm will likely take away the many beautiful colorful leaves.
