Through the wildly romantic Bode Valley

Christina/ December 28, 2014/ The daily grind

On advent 4th we set off to our last tour this year. This time we were heading for Thale and from there we took off to the wildly romantic Bode Valley – one of the finest gorges of the Harz mountains. According to the “program” we initially walked through the valley towards Treseburg. From there we walked on a steep uphill way to the so called witches’ dance floor via the “white deer” (a stamp-collection location). Finally we walked over serpentines back to the start at Thale.

Again we had luck on our side and nice wheather. After rainfall for days we caught the only dry day of that week and we even rewarded with a couple of sunrays. The complexion of the walking-tour: The gorge trail on partly stony paths and steep tracks passes from Thale to Treseburg some bridges: the cat rack, the bridge of virgins or the devil’s bridge – and us with bag and baggage!

Close to the wildlife center near the withches’ dance floor we were rewarded with sighting some wolves. However, they were kind of camera-shy somehow. Altogether again a very nice walk and a very nice termination of a perfect year of travel!
